For this project, the teacher presented Vincent Van Gogh art history. The principles of movement and rhythm were reinforced. Making this art takes two class periods, one for the tissue paper and gel medium background, and the second for oil pastel layer and landscaped foreground.
Because this project lends itself to storytelling, extend by photographing final works and importing into a draw or page layout program. Have students overlay a two-sentence children’s book style narrative onto their page.
